Sand  to Serengeti Event

Event includes:

​Location: Green Lakes State Park

Date/Time:  Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 8:00a.m.

Event: The race is roughly 10 miles total throughout the trails of Green Lakes.  The start is at the beach and slowly winds its way around the lakes and up toward the Serengeti.  The race continues its way around the Serengeti before it descends back towards the beach for the finish.

Packet Pick-up: May 24, 2024, 5:00pm-6:00pm at Fleet Feet in East Syracuse

​Start Time: The race will begin at 8:00a.m. 

Pricing: Labor Day weekend September 1st-4th $49. September 5th through March 31st at $59. April 1st to May 25th at $69.

Aid Stations:  One aid station will be placed at the intersection of mile 2 and 6.5. It is advised that athletes carry hydration/nutrition with them while on the course if needed.  The aid station is only water.  *Carry in, carry out.  No trace left behind!*

Bathroom facilities - The park bathrooms will be open.​​

Parking: There will be parking in both parking lots by the beach. 

Swag:  All participants will receive a finisher medal.

Add on: T-shirt for purchase

$100 cash award to 1st place female and male finisher. 
$50 cash award to the 2nd place female and male finisher.
$25 cash award to the 3rd place female and male finishers.
$25 gift card has been donated by Fleet Feet Syracuse for the halfway runner (median of the total number of finishers).
$25 gift card has been donated by Fleet Feet Syracuse for the last place finisher.

RAFFLE:  $100 gift card has been donated by Fleet Feet Syracuse to be raffled off to anyone who has donated to the Onondaga East Chamber through our race signup page HERE

Deferrals/Refunds: There are no deferrals after March 18th.  There are no refunds for this race.
Sponsorships: Available by request or go to our race website to view the sponsorship packet.

Race Date Change Refunds:  We are accepting refunds due to the rescheduling of our race until March 18th. We cannot accept any refunds after that date.

Stretching/Massage Pre/Post Race: Tom Woznica of Redeem Physical Therapy & Performance will have a tent set up for pre and post-race stretching and massage gun!  Plus, please be sure to pick up marketing material on all Redeem has to offer!

Family Fun: Fastsigns for donating signs for our participant's families/kids to decorate during our event. FastSigns jumped at the opportunity to make sure that your families would have a fun way to participate during race day

Chances to Win!:

  1. 4 print out cookies will be on survey flags used to mark the course. If you see the card, grab it and hold on to it to get 2 free cookies from Sugar Blossom Cake Shop at the end of the race. 1 allowed per person.

  2. 3 print out cheese steak will be on survey flags used to mark the course. If you see the card, grab it and hold on to it to get a $25 gift card from Gino's Cheese Steak and Onion at the end of the race. 1 allowed per person.

Local Food!  This year's bib will have a tear-off ticket for you! Take that ticket and visit Trappers 2 for our choice of a slice of pizza or domestic draft. Trappers is only about 2 miles from Green Lakes and why would you not get some food and drink after you just ran 10 miles?!

Please take the opportunity to donate to the Onondaga East Chamber ("OEC"). The Chamber is a a 501c(6) not-for-profit organization with the mission to help serve the Onondaga East County community by promoting and encouraging responsible business growth and development locally. OEC supports a diverse array of civic and cultural programs and is devoted to increasing public awareness of the variety of products and services that Onondaga East businesses offer.

OEC is dedicated to helping promote, connect, and expand public knowledge about our local businesses within Eastern Onondaga County.  With the "Live.Life.Local." motto, OEC is constantly trying to find ways to help local business owners with economic growth.
